The Yamma Ensemble (ISR) is one of the projects of the Israeli singer Talya G. A Solan. With the Yamma Ensemble, she is searching for the roots of traditional Israeli music.
Their own roots are incorporated, especially the heritage of their Yemeni and Bulgarian-Sephardic grandparents. Often this creates a sense of ancient times, full of tradition and spirituality, even though the material is just as often self-penned and reflects the musicians’ origins in the Orient and Southeastern Europe. The Yamma Ensemble thus brings to life the cultural mosaic of Israel, sensitively blending the music of the Jewish Diaspora with the fascinating forms and rhythms of ancient Jewish traditions. His sound is sometimes exuberant and joyful, sometimes moving and sad. But always lively and passionate.
