Founded in 2004, Ensemble Choral Copernic is a mixed choir of 25 passionate amateurs, hosted by Union Libérale Israélite de France (ULIF), aka the “Copernic street synagogue”, a Paris congregation, member of the European Union for Progressive Judaism.

Its main mission is to keep alive the rich liturgical tradition of Jewish music, giving at least two concerts every year. The primary focus of Ensemble Choral Copernic is the liturgical tradition, mostly Ashkenazi, which gave rise to the music used for the various services of the synagogue.

Ensemble Choral Copernic took part in the centennial of the ULIF in December 2007. In November 2009, it premiered the two Kol Nidrei commissioned by ULIF by composers Serge Kaufmann and Itaï Daniel, the latter being its permanent chorus master. In November 2011, Ensemble Choral Copernic performed a memorable concert that included 18 different versions of the Kaddish prayer.
