The Voices of Israel Ensemble was initially established about 30 years ago, in the Israeli city of Netanya. In the meantime the Ensemble numbers up to seventy cantorial singers from all over Israel, all of which have different professions in their private lifes: professors, physicists, engineers, lawyers, farmers …

They all share the love of music, especially Jewish music. Many of the choir members also serve as cantors in their local synagogues.
The choir is conducted by Yaakov Rotner.

The Voices of Israel Ensemble conducts fully orchestrated, as well as piano accompanied concerts, and is invited to perform in concert halls and synagogues throughout Israel and world-wide. The Ensemble accompanies internationally known cantors in major synagogues in Israel, including at The Great Synagogue of Jerusalem. Over the years, the Ensemble has been invited to perform in concerts in London, Paris, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Vilna, Warsaw and more.

The repertoire of the Ensemble is quite extensive: It includes traditional cantorial pieces, along with original compositions by the conductor, Mr. Rotner. Additionally, the Ensemble sings Israeli and Chassidic songs as well as operatic pieces adapted to appropriate Sabbath and Holiday prayers.

Yaakov (Yankele) Rotner, the ensemble’s Conductor and Choir Master, was born in 1955 to a family of cantors, holocaust survivors. He is well known for over 30 years as one of the leading conductors, composers and arrangers in the world of Jewish Music.
