The Louis Lewandowski Festival has been an integral part of the cultural program in Berlin for many years. It is taking place for the 15th time this year and is a musical highlight that has brought more than 80 choirs and ensembles from 13 countries to the German capital since its inception

And that’s not all: the festival is the most important platform for Jewish religious choral music in Europe and combines traditional synagogue music with modern arrangements in the spirit of its namesake Louis Lewandowski.

In this way, it keeps Jewish spirituality popular and at the same time sends a strong signal against anti-Semitism, hatred and exclusion. This year’s musical program once again invites you to discover the diversity of Jewish music. Under the title “Best of Louis!“, we can look forward to international musicians, including the “Hidden Voices” from Philadelphia, the “Adi Choir” from Tel Aviv, the “Leipziger Synagogalchor” and the “Synagogal Ensemble Berlin”.

I would like to thank all the musicians for their participation in the festival, as well as everyone involved in the organization and implementation, and the friends, partners and sponsors of the Louis Lewandowski Festival. Without them, this important contribution to interreligious dialog and social cohesion would not be possible.

Berlin is the city of freedom, tolerance and diversity – and the Louis Lewandowski Festival stands for these values and thus strengthens our coexistence in Berlin.

I wish the Louis Lewandowski Festival every success and great shared musical experiences.
