Poland’s only synagogal choir, under the direction of Stanisław M. Rybarczyk, was founded in 1996. At the beginning the choir consisted of students and music graduates of the Academy of Music in Wroclaw. Today only professional singers sing there.

The choir consists of 14 members and accompanies the services in the Wroclaw Synagogue on Shabbat and on holidays. The repertoire consists of works by Jewish composers – mainly liturgy, Hebrew and Yiddish songs. A special concern of the choir director is the legacy of the composer Moritz Deutsch.

The choir has sung at many festivals and given concerts with world-famous cantors such as Joseph Malovany (USA), Moshe Stern (Jerusalem), László Fekete (Budapest), Moshe Schulhof (USA) and Roslyn Barak (USA).

Since 2010 the choir sings exclusively with the first Jewish cantor in Germany, Avitall Gerstetter, from Berlin. In 2011 the first CD “Avitall & Breslauer Synagogalchor” was released – another CD will be released in December 2013.
