Greetings from the Governing Mayor of Berlin

The Louis Lewandowski Festival is a great enrichment for Berlin. Its anniversary edition gives us confidence and cohesion through music, especially in this difficult year.

The Louis Lewandowski Festival is a great enrichment for Berlin.
Its anniversary edition gives us confidence and cohesion through music, especially in this difficult year.

The Louis Lewandowski Festival is now taking place for the tenth time.
I am delighted that we can celebrate this anniversary and present the magic of synagogue music to a wide audience.
Even though many people will be watching the 2020 festival from their living rooms due to the coronavirus pandemic, they will be listening to the musicians and choirs with rapt attention.
This unique and special music festival is a great asset for our city.
It offers exciting access to Jewish culture and to music that knows how to inspire both connoisseurs and new audiences.
The online broadcast also gives us the opportunity to reach a wider audience.
I hope that even more people will get to know and appreciate synagogue music and the traditions that go hand in hand with it.

I would like to thank everyone involved, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Synagogal Ensemble Berlin, all partners and sponsors and all guests and friends of the festival.
Together, you are helping us to overcome these difficult times in Berlin and to ensure that we can continue to enjoy extraordinary cultural events such as the Louis Lewandowski Festival in the future.
I wish all our guests and listeners at home a lot of fun at the concerts of the Louis Lewandowski Festival 2020.
