The Zimratya choir comprises some 28 members who are Cantors or leaders of the Prayer services in Synagogues close to their homes in Israel. Most of whom, also officiate leading the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services abroad. The choir was founded by its conductor Dr. Uri Aharon on 23 July 2007, and is a registered “Amuta”-non profit NGO directed by Yaacov Ringel.

Since inception-the choir has performed in 98 concerts both locally and internationally, some of which are:

  • Gala concert in the Mann Auditorium with Yitzchak Helfgot and Yaakov Shwekey together with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Opening Jerusalem Spring concert 2008 by performing the Oratory
    Six annual concerts at the Jerusalem Theatre with renowned Cantors such as Herstig, Ben Zion Miller, Rand, Glick and Heller
  • 2011 Mount Herzl ceremony (Day of Independence) with Dudu Fisher and leading the
  • Appearances at Synagogues in Israel such as Yeshurun, Beit Hakerem, Hod Hasharon, Har Nof, Great Synagogues in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Netanya and Haifa (Slichot), Ein Hanatziv, Givat Zeev, Beit El, Givat Shaul and Kiryat Moshe
  • Performances in Dublin/Ireland, Prague/Czech Republic, Brașov, Iași, Piatra Neamț, Brăila and Bucharest/Romania

The choir performs a wide range of music-both Liturgical and Israeli, and contributes to the strengthening of ties between Israel and the Diaspora.
